Abstract
In the biomedical sciences, the literatures play important roles in researchers¡¯ knowledge and information. Paper publishing and refereeing systems have been developed in order to communicate new knowledges objectively and efficiently. Nowadays, most of scientific journals adopt similar publishing and refereeing systems. In this paper, we introduce the following with the case of the bioscience-developed country. Firstly, this paper explains authorship, editorship, conflicts of interest, and overlapping publication. These contents are associated with protection of intellectual property rights and quality improvement of journals. Secondly, this paper contributes to the discussion of flaws and advantages in the peer review system. Alternatives and desirability of the change in the peer review system are also considered. In a developed country, alternative mechanisms such as open peer review, double-blind refereeing and post-publication commentary are practiced. Finally, it is most important to carry out publishing and refereeing systems which
are suited to Korea.
